On our website, we’ve written recipes for interesting smoothie options, such as berry or banana and kiwi.

But we want to share with you a less sweet and more dietary drink made from a mix of fruits and vegetables. It is popularly called green smoothie or detox smoothie, because it consists exclusively of green ingredients, and it has gained in the people the magical properties of the removal of toxins. But the truth is that most diets, including those that restrict foods by color, often have no scientifically proven positive effects on the human body. On the contrary, they can cause a deficiency of useful micro- and macronutrients in the body. A similar situation occurs with detox courses and products. If the body is really poisoned, no celery and cucumber will help. In such a case, the person feels terrible and needs to go to the doctors. Therefore, treat dishes like green smoothies exclusively as food to help diversify your complete and balanced diet.

We love the celery, cucumber and apple smoothie for its simplicity and freshness. In fact, all the ingredients I have already voiced, so let’s move on to the preparation. For myself, I have determined the perfect formula of ingredients: 2 celery stalks, 2 medium apples and 2 cucumbers. But since I have a very large cucumber, I limited myself to one. Dilute all the vegetables and fruit with 200 ml of water. As you can see, you get solid twos, which is easy to remember. I use Golden Delicious apples most often, as they have a very well-balanced sour-sweet flavor. I peel them with a vegetable peeler, cut off the core and dice them. We put everything in a blender, where we will make a green smoothie.

If you use apples from your own garden, you don’t have to trim the skins, because they contain a lot of vitamins and fiber. But unlike the store version, you have complete control over the chemicals used to treat the fruit.

I also peel the cucumber most often, because the skin can give us unnecessary bitterness. We put it in a blender, pre-cut into cubes. When the cucumber is old enough, its seeds become hard, so sometimes I cut them off too.

Celery does not need to be further processed, just throw it, diced, in the blender.

Now add water and whip the smoothie until it’s ready.

I prefer to leave small fractions of fruits and vegetables, but you can whip until almost homogeneous. The consistency of the finished green smoothie is not very liquid, but suitable for drinking.

The drink is a great refreshing and toning drink. Although the smoothie is low in calories, it is a great healthy snack. If desired, you can balance the taste with spices, such as adding a little lemon juice for acidity or cinnamon for spiciness. But if you initially pick the right apples, this step is probably unnecessary.
