Red fish has always been popular because it has a delicate and pleasant taste and is an excellent source of healthy fats and vitamins. In addition, the composition of the nutritional value of salmon fish, makes them one of the main contenders to win among the products for proper nutrition and diet. I am sure you have noticed from the recipes for marinated and salted salmon that I also try not to omit this product from my diet.
And today I want to share one of the easiest and fastest salmon recipes, which is suitable for everyday diet or as a holiday dish, especially if you complement it with a creamy sauce for fish.
Before we cook salmon steak, we need to choose it correctly. This is an important point, which determines the success of our dish. If it is possible to buy fresh fish – it is better to do so. Fresh salmon steak will be juicier and more delicious, because the meat does not lose juice during defrosting. The fish should be firm and have no unpleasant smells. If you bought a frozen version, thaw the fish in the refrigerator without rushing so as not to spoil the delicate product. The thickness of the salmon steak can be adjusted depending on the size of the fish. When the carcass is large enough I cut off pieces about 3 vertebrae. A steak of this thickness fries well, but does not have time to start burning. In my case, 2 steaks weighed in at 700 grams.
Rinse the fish well under water to get rid of the slime on the skin. It is not necessary to peel off the scales – they melt well when cooking and will not interfere in the finished dish. It remains only to dry salmon with a paper towel. Sprinkle the steak with olive oil (1 tsp.) and sprinkle salt (1 tsp.) and pepper (1/2 tsp.). In what order you did this is not important. The important thing is that the fish is coated evenly with the oil and spices.
You can add herbs, lemon juice and other spices to the fish if you wish, but at least once try the classic salmon steak to appreciate the “pure” taste of the fish. Believe me, it’s really delicious!
We will fry the steak in a frying pan. It is better to use a non-stick pan, because the fish is delicate and easily broken if it starts to stick. My pan sometimes fails, so I’m sharing a tip – cover the surface with parchment paper beforehand.
Heat a frying pan and place the steaks. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side. The heat must be medium so as not to burn the fish.
If you’ve done everything right, the steak will have a golden crust on both sides.
Remove the fish from the fire and eat it quickly, before it has time to cool. The best way to serve salmon steak is with side dishes that do not have a strong taste, such as rice, potatoes or vegetables. It is also not a sin to have a good wine to go with the fish.
The structure of the steak is very tender and juicy. A piece easily separates with a fork and just melts in the mouth. And in combination with the sauce I mentioned at the beginning, you can catch a real gastronomic orgasm.
Bon appetit! Don’t starve 😋
