Full recipe
If you’re looking for information on how to cook salmon in the oven, you’ve come to the right place. We love fish and are constantly posting the tastiest and most interesting options. I just had a large piece of red fish that I divided into 2 sirloin sections. One I used for salting and the other I will bake for the recipe.
You can also cook steaks in the oven – it does not play a big role. The main thing is that the pieces should not be too thick. Salmon for baking can be frozen or fresh, it all depends on what is more accessible to you. In my case it is 750 grams of fresh salmon fillets.
If you have a frozen version, let it thaw in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Rinse the fish under running water and wipe it with a paper towel. Now you can cut it into portions.
By the way, you can also do this after cooking, but then there is a chance that the fillet will gut a little and lose its aesthetic appearance. I cut a piece of fish into 3 equal pieces.
We will bake the salmon after a quick marinade. The ingredients for the marinade are available to almost every cook, so there should be no problem. We take soy sauce (2 tbsp), olive oil (1 tbsp), salt (1 tsp), pepper (1/2 tsp) and the juice of one orange.
Instead of orange, you can use the juice of a lemon or a combination of both. Stir the liquid until homogeneous, so that an even essence is obtained.
Next, we put the fish in a deep container and pour the marinade.
Leave for 10 minutes, turn the salmon pieces and let stand for another 10 minutes.
That way the fillets will marinate evenly. If you are in a big hurry, you can reduce the marinade time to 10 minutes total time.
While the fish is marinating, peel an orange (1 piece) and carefully cut it across into circles.
Place them on the bottom of the baking tray or mold in which we are going to bake the salmon. In this way we get a citrus “pillow” for the fish.
On top lay the marinated fillets and pour the rest of the marinade.
Put the baking tray into a preheated 180° oven. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until the fish is completely cooked.
There is no need to fear that the salmon will have time to dry out or boil over during baking. The marinade will create moisture, and the cushion of oranges, will not allow the fish to be constantly in the liquid. Therefore, there is no need to cover the dish with foil or a lid.
Fact
Cooked fish is best served with a salad or garnish with a delicate flavor, such as rice or mashed potatoes. It is important to emphasize the subtle flavor of the salmon and the citrus flavoring.
I also recommend pouring the fillets with the liquid that remained after cooking – it turns out very tasty. If you want, you can also eat an orange. In general, I eat everything that can be eaten.
This recipe, as compared to the salmon steak, reveals the fish from a slightly different angle.
Salmon steak
It turns out just as tender, but at the same time more spicy. A great solution would be to alternate between different types of salmon dishes from time to time, so you don’t get bored with one type.
Bon appetit! Don’t starve 😋
